In recent years, restrictions imposed by directives such as ELV and RoHS have gained genuine attention. In addition to the traditional goals of reducing overall waste and lowering carbon dioxide emissions, the manufacturing sector now faces the critical challenge of preventing the release of environmentally harmful substances from its products. Against this backdrop, our company has come to view environmental issues as a form of quality nonconformity, and accordingly, we have restructured our environmental management organization. Within the Quality Assurance Department, we have established an “Environmental Assurance Group” to oversee the operation of the Group‑wide environmental management system and serve as the secretariat for the Environmental Management Committee. Similarly, each overseas affiliate has relocated its environmental management functions to its Quality Assurance department. Since 2007, we have scheduled the “Environmental Management Leaders’ Meeting”—attended by environmental management representatives from both the head office and overseas subsidiaries—to coincide with the “Quality Assurance Department Leaders’ Meeting,” thereby promoting information sharing and further strengthening collaboration. Through these meetings, we have reaffirmed the growing societal expectation that product evaluation should encompass not only quality (Q), cost (C), and delivery time (D), but also environmental performance. At the same time, we have deepened our understanding that effective environmental compliance is essential for corporate survival and must be pursued with unwavering commitment. Accordingly, we have set a target of “zero product‑related environmental incidents” and are actively discussing concrete measures to achieve this goal at the operational level. By implementing these initiatives, we will continue to enhance the rigor and effectiveness of our environmental management efforts.
