To prevent environmental pollution, Shengyue Motor implements rigorous chemical substance management, actively reducing and eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals while maintaining a clear understanding of their usage. Furthermore, it conducts thorough investigations and analyses of soil and water contamination, and promptly takes appropriate remedial measures upon detecting residual traces of previously used hazardous substances.
Chemical Substance Management
Management in the Production Environment
The overseas‑relations company has procured specialized vehicles for the transport of chemical substances. To minimize environmental contamination in the event of an emergency, these dedicated vehicles are equipped with measures to prevent leaks and other potential spills. Furthermore, the floors of the warehouses storing these chemicals have been treated with a special coating to prevent liquid penetration in case of accidental leakage, thereby ensuring that soil and water resources remain uncontaminated.
The following measures are implemented at the production site as chemical substance storage and management controls.
Install a leak‑proof containment vessel (oil pan) beneath the drum to prevent spills, establish response procedures for emergency situations, and conduct regular emergency‑response drills.
For oils, while preventing oil leakage and contamination, they shall be managed in accordance with the prescribed handling and disposal procedures for each type of oil.
Management conducted by the research and development department
Chemical substances used for research and development, testing, and other purposes related to products and equipment shall be subject to the following management measures.
Develop guidelines for the storage and management of chemical pharmaceuticals to ensure effective oversight.
The chemical storage facility shall be securely constructed to prevent collapse in the event of earthquakes or other disasters.
The custodian of chemical pharmaceuticals shall conduct periodic inventory counts.
Chemical waste liquids are managed in accordance with the industrial waste management manifest system.
Compliance with the PRTR System
Since 1998, the head office has been conducting surveys and preparing reports on the PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register), but for more than five years there have been no recorded instances of the use of any substances subject to this system.
Prevent noise and vibration pollution
The head office and its affiliated companies conduct regular noise and vibration measurements to verify compliance with local noise and vibration laws and regulations. The results of these periodic assessments indicate no instances of non‑compliance with the applicable noise and vibration limit values in each respective jurisdiction.
Preventing Workplace Air Pollution
To safeguard employees’ health and the surrounding environment, Shengyue Motor regularly monitors indoor air quality and outdoor exhaust emissions.
With regard to the office environment, VOC (*1) measurements are conducted, and indoor environmental assessments are carried out. Overseas affiliates also perform necessary measurements in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
(*1) VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, are indoor air pollutants and can contribute to sick building syndrome. Examples include formaldehyde, vinyl acetate, toluene, and xylene.
